La passione del giornalista Andrea Cherchi per la fotografia e per la sua amata Milano l’ha portato a creare sui social il progetto ‘Semplicemente Milano’. “Amo profondamente questa mia città che dona e chiede luce in ogni istante”. Delle foto talmente belle e autentiche che possiamo davvero dare a questo ambasciatore della città, il titolo di fotografo ufficiale di Milano. Le sue pagine Facebook e Instagram sono un must per tutti coloro, milanesi e visitatori, che amano questa città e le sue meraviglie.

“Ho cominciato a dedicare i miei scatti a Milano quando mi sono reso conto che, oltre al mio lavoro di fotografo e di giornalista, avrei potuto essere utile alla città che mi aveva dato tutto in termini di affetti, amicizie, studio e lavoro”, dice Andrea Cherchi.
Che cosa ami di Milano?
“Con le mie foto, tengo a dimostrare che Milano va conosciuta in ogni suo aspetto e, soprattutto, nella sua grande umanità. Amo la semplicità di Milano, mi piacerebbe che anche i milanesi e i turisti vedessero le cose che vedo io con la mia macchina fotografica.”
Andrea fotografa i quartieri poco conosciuti, i murales nascosti, gli orti condivisi e le botteghe storiche, ma anche la città moderna, la Milano in piena mutazione. Riesce sempre a trovare una luce giusta o un angolo di visuale unico. “Quando entrate in piazza Gae Aulenti, vi abbraccia un mondo fantastico! E poi a CityLife, dalla vecchia fiera fino ai grattacieli e il magnifico parco… è semplicemente magico!”

Come hai vissuto il confinamento di marzo 2020?
“Durante quel periodo, sentivo il lamento di una città ferita e in cerca di aiuto. Milano ha un cuore immenso e ho pensato di farne sentire il battito con le mie foto. Sono orgoglioso di questa mia città che affronta con dignità anche i momenti più difficili. Ora ne sto raccontando la rinascita, ma non è facile, la ripresa è lenta, anche se la voglia di tornare alla normalità è tanta”.
Andrea Cherchi non si ferma mai. Se lo seguite sui social lo vedrete un po’ dovunque nei quartieri di Milano, scoprirete che non dimentica il suo impegno ad aiutare tutte le persone che hanno sofferto e soffrono in questo periodo, persone anziane, piccoli negozianti, gente che non ha lavoro e i medici e il personale ospedaliero. Guardando le sue foto ci viene una gran voglia di aiutarlo nella sua bellissima missione.
Se avete perso la sua ultima mostra, ‘Milano di nuovo in silenzio’, espressione emozionante del ‘Secondo giorno del secondo lockdown della storia di Milano’, andate presto sulle sue pagine social per ammirare e seguire questo suo straordinario e impegnativo lavoro.
Da quando hai questa sensibilità dello sguardo che diventa foto?
“A otto anni ho ricevuto in regalo una Polaroid dai miei genitori. Scattavo foto a dettagli e particolari che a nessuno, di solito, interessano. Poi le incollavo su un quaderno e scrivevo, a modo mio, la didascalia. Dopo alcuni mesi, mio padre mi fece usare la sua macchina fotografica e alle scuole medie mi iscrisse al mio primo corso di fotografia. E’ in quegli anni che ho capito che la fotografia sarebbe stata una passione che non mi avrebbe più lasciato. Già allora associavo alle immagini che raccoglievo i miei pensieri, le mie considerazioni. E’ passato molto tempo, ma ho sempre l’entusiasmo dei miei diciotto anni.”

Siamo anche toccati dalle parole amorevoli che rivolge a Milano con le splendide inquadrature delle sue foto. Sembra quasi che si rivolga ad una persona amata. Un particolare scorcio notturno è ‘buonanotte’, un altro col sole abbagliante dietro le guglie del Duomo è ‘buongiorno’, il tram giallo sui binari è un ‘arrivederci’. E Milano diventa viva e pulsante, attiva come non mai.
“Adoro questa mia città che cresce e lavora, dimostrando al mondo intero che Milan l’è un gran Milan!”

The passion for photography and his beloved Milan that guides journalist Andrea Cherchi led him to create the social media-based project, Semplicemente Milano [Simply Milan]. “I love my city deeply, this city that constantly gives and receives light.” The beauty and authenticity of his photos make us want to declare him the official photographer of Milan! His Facebook and Instagram pages are obligatory stops for all those – natives and visitors alike – who love this city and its wonders.

“I began to dedicate my efforts to Milan when I realised that I could be of use to this city that has given me so much,” he says.
What do you love about Milan?
“I use my photos to demonstrate that Milan must be appreciated in all her aspects, especially in her immense humanity. It may sound strange, but I love Milan’s simplicity. I want others to see what I see through my lens.”

Andrea photographs little known areas, hidden murals, shared gardens and historic boutiques. He shows us the modern city as well, the Milan that is constantly mutating. “When you walk into piazza Gae Aulenti, you are embraced by a fantastic world! And CityLife, from the old fairgrounds to the skyscrapers and the magnificent park, is simply magic.”

How did you manage through the lockdown of March 2020?
“I could hear the cry of a wounded city in need of help. Milan has an immense heart and I thought that my photos could help make its heartbeat heard. I’m proud of my city as it faces these difficult times with dignity. Now I’m telling the story of its rebirth, but it’s not easy and recovery is slow.”

Where do your sensitivity and artistic eye come from?
“When I was 8, my parents gave me a Polaroid camera. I took snapshots of little details that most people overlooked. After a few months, my father started letting me use his camera, and in middle school I took my first photography course. I printed them myself in a dark room. This is when I understood the depth of my passion for photography. And I still have the same enthusiasm that I had at 18 years old.”

We are touched by his loving words as he talks to his city, saying “good night”, or ‘you’re so beautiful!’ or ‘splendid Milan!’. The city is part of his family.
